I am determined to share a bit more of my business and media side with you on this blog. And first thing first, I am more than a little in love with Google Chrome. I couldn’t do my job without it. Honestly, if I heard that Google was cutting Chrome, I would tear up a bit. I don’t think that’s likely at all.
It’s the apps that do me in. Most browsers have apps, but for some reason, I have an affinity to Chrome. I also feel like it’s faster (sidenote: I easily fall prey to marketing) Even though I manage to crash my Chrome about three times a day, I always forgive and move on.
Here are my faves:
Tweetdeck. The Chrome version is easy to install, it updates automatically — the last Tweetdeck desktop software upgrade required you to uninstall and then reinstall. I call my Tweetdeck the “command center” and as I’m monitoring multiple Twitter accounts and a stream of consciousness from the state, Tweetdeck lets me keep it all organized.
Bit.ly. This installs and sits up right by the URL. When you want to copy and paste a link, you just click on the bit.ly face icon. It copies and pastes it into a trackable link. It makes it so easy to track all of the links you are sharing and knowing what is being successful. I love how Bit.ly integrates with everything — Tweetdeck, Feedburner, etc. — it makes life so easy.
Screen Capture. This one is out of control cool. You just click on it and select what kind of capture you want — a region of the screen, visible content, the whole page – whatever you want. Then you can write on it, highlight a portion and save it in a file format — or store it online. Do you want to know what I was doing before? I don’t want to embarrass myself, but it involved Microsoft Paint.
Last Pass. This isn’t my favorite password management app but it’s working for now while I search for another one. I like that it is easy to use. I don’t like it tries to autofill things on Facebook. That’s not a place you want autofilled ever.
As for the news side of me, I love the Mashable, New York Times and USA Today apps too. I think they are a must if you want to check in the news super fast in the morning. The CNN app hangs out in the corner and lets you know when there are updates. So easy, until it says there are 62 unread news stories and you’re all “no thank you.”
Couldn’t resist using a photo of chrome toes for my post about Chrome. What are your favorite tech apps and add-ons?

I completely agree about chrome!! It always amazes me when someone looks at my computer and asks what browser I’m using – how can the whole world not be loving the perfection that is google chrome?? Tweetdeck is definitely my favorite app. Far and away.
Yes! You get me when I say web-based software is almost as good as ice cream.
Thanks for these! I’ve been using Google Chrome for a little while, and I do LOVE it, but I wasn’t familiar with all of these great features! I have to get on that!
Let me know if you find any good ones! I’m still trying to decide if I like the Facebook one. If it worked for pages I’d be all over it.
